StrydAR Parkinson’s Walking Glasses

I first came across the StrydAR Parkinson’s walking glasses in a national newspaper article, which immediately caught my interest. After reaching out to the founder and director, Scott Mcleod, I was offered a three‑month trial. I informed PDUK—where I am a member—and updated my mentor, Daren, before beginning the process.

Understanding the importance of real‑life research, I committed to evaluating the glasses across a wide range of everyday environments. This included supermarkets, garden centres, pubs, restaurants, and football matches, as well as cinema and theatre visits. I even tested the glasses during a cruise, which provided a valuable opportunity to assess how they performed on moving surfaces and in constantly changing surroundings. I also had the opportunity to present them at an NHS balance and falls course, allowing me to share my early insights with healthcare professionals.

Throughout the trial, my family closely monitored my progress and offered regular feedback. They noticed a clear improvement in my confidence and stability, often commenting that I seemed more assured when moving around. They also observed that I was walking faster, with a more purposeful stride, and managing longer distances than before. Their perspective reinforced many of the changes I was feeling myself.

For me personally, the glasses have improved my balance, strengthened my walking, and increased both my pace and step length. Beyond the physical benefits, I’ve experienced a lift in motivation, concentration, confidence, and overall mood. In many situations that previously required caution, I now feel more capable and steady.

Overall, the glasses have made a meaningful difference to my day‑to‑day performance and have given me greater confidence in activities that once felt challenging.
